Batch-Editing Security
Overview
Security settings for multiple items can be edited by clicking the Edit Security button in the button bar. This button is displayed in Item views.
Note that only Web Content Management Administrators have access to this button.
To batch-edit Security
- Open the Authoring Portlet (Web Content Authoring).
- Open an Item View.
- Select the Items you would like to batch-edit, and then click the Edit Security button in the button bar.
- Edit the list of users or groups you would like to set Security levels for.
- To remove items, first select the required items from the item list, then click Remove
- To add items, click Add Search for and then select the users or groups you would like to add Security for. Click OK
- Select the appropriate options:
Grant users / groups:
- The same Security level:
- This option will change the Security level of the selected users or groups to the Security Access level specified below.Example: If the Security level is changed to Edit.
Before After User 1 Read Edit User 2 Edit Edit User 3 Delete Edit
- Minimum Security level:
- This option will change the minimum Security level of the selected users or groups to the Security Access level specified below. A Users's security level can be raised, but not reduced.Example: If the minimum Security level is changed to Edit.

- Maximum Security level:
- This option will change the maximum Security level of the selected users or groups to the Security Access level specified below. A Users's security level can be reduced, but not raised.Example: If the maximum Security level is changed to Edit.
Before After User 1 Read Read User 2 Edit Edit User 3 Delete Edit Access Level: Select the Security Access level to set:
- No access.
- Live access.
- Read access.
- Edit access.
- Delete access.
Permission Set: Select where to set the Security Access levels:
- System Defined:
- This will change all the Security settings specified above to System Defined This will mean that only Web Content Management Administrators will be able to edit these settings.
- User Defined:
- This will change all the Security settings specified above to User Defined This will mean that Users with Edit or Delete access will be able to edit these settings.
Only change access for existing users / groups. Do not add any users / groups If selected, only the Security access levels of users or groups that already exist in an Item's Security settings will be changed. No new users or groups will be added.Example: Change all access to Edit - if not selected.
