Web sites with similar workload patterns can be classified into site types. Consider five distinct workload patterns and corresponding Web site classifications:

1. Publish/subscribe (user to data)
2. Online shopping (user to online buying)
3. Customer self-service (user to business)
4. Online trading (user to business)
5. Business to business
