Java clients

Although Web clients constitute the majority of users of WebSphere today, WebSphere also supports another type of client characterized as a Java client. Such a client is a stand-alone Java program (either GUI-based or not), which uses the Java RMI/IIOP facilities to make direct method invocations on various EJB objects within an appserver, without going through an intervening Web server and servlet, as shown in Figure 1-2.
