Access control

The access control service protects critical resources in a system by limiting access only to authorized users and their applications. It prevents the unauthorized use of a resource or the use of a resource in an unauthorized manner.

Here are some examples of the access control service in a WebSphere MQ environment:

  1. Allowing only an authorized administrator to issue commands to manage WebSphere MQ resources.

  2. Allowing an application to connect to a queue manager only if the user ID associated with the application is authorized to do so.

  3. Allowing a user's application to open only those queues that are necessary for its function.

  4. Allowing a user's application to perform only those operations on a queue that are necessary for its function. For example, an application might need only to browse messages on a particular queue, and not to put or get messages.
