Converting portlets to JSR 168 portlet API

Rational® tools can help you convert existing deployment descriptors and configuration files for IBM® portlet API portlets to the JSR 168 portlet API specification.

These instructions assume that your workspace already contains IBM portlet API portlets.

Note: This function converts only the portlet.xml, web.xml, faces-config.xml (if any) and struts-config.xml (if any) files. You must manually convert Java™ code and JSP files to use the JSR 168 portlet API.

To convert your portlet deployment descriptors and configuration files:

1. In the Project Explorer, expand your IBM portlet project to display the Portlet Deployment Descriptor node.

2. Right-click the Portlet Deployment Descriptor node and choose

   Convert to JSR 168 portlet API.

3. If prompted, click

   Yes to the confirmation message. This process might take several minutes. You will see a message that states the conversion completed.
