User ID (USERID)

This attribute specifies the user ID to be used by the MCA when attempting to initiate a secure SNA session with a remote MCA.

We can specify a task user identifier of 20 characters.

It is valid for channel types of sender, server, requester, or client-connection.

This attribute does not apply to IBM MQ for z/OS except for client-connection channels.

On the receiving end, if passwords are kept in encrypted format and the LU 6.2 software is using a different encryption method, an attempt to start the channel fails with invalid security details. We can avoid this failure by modifying the receiving SNA configuration to either:

  • Turn off password substitution, or
  • Define a security user ID and password.

On IBM MQ for z/OS, this attribute is valid only for client connection channels. On other platforms, it is valid for channel types of:

  • Sender
  • Server
  • Requester
  • Client connection
  • Cluster sender
