Administer ForumsUse the wsadmin client to administer Forums by specifying properties in a configuration file or running administrative commands.
You edit the forum-config.xml file to control how and when various Forums operations take place. You use the administrative commands to perform tasks that manipulate Forums content. Changes to the configuration file require node synchronization and a restart of the Forums server before they take effect. Changes made using administrative commands take effect immediately.
Running Forums administrative commands
Jython scripts are used to administer the Forums application. These scripts allow the administrator to view Forums data and perform administrative tasks for Forums.
Change Forums configuration property values
Configuration settings control how and when various Forums operations take place. You can edit the settings to change the ways that forums behave.
Retrieve forum content
Use administrative commands to retrieve forum topics by date, by creator, and by topic UUID. You do not need to check the Forums configuration file in and out, or restart the Forums server when using these commands.
When moderation is enabled for Forums, a designated moderator can review posts before they are published to a forum and manage posts after they are added to a forum. Forums moderation is supported for community forums and stand-alone forums.
Manage forum trash
Use administrative commands and edit configuration property settings to move forum content to the trash, empty the trash, restore forums and forum topics from the trash, and perform other trash management tasks for Forums.
Manage file attachments in Forums
You can manage space on the Forums server by limiting the number of attachments that users can upload to a forum post. You can also edit configuration property settings in the forum-config.xml file to prevent your users from uploading file attachments.
View and collect Forums metrics
Use the ForumsMetricsService commands and Server Metrics page to monitor product usage, and to make configuration adjustments when necessary.
