Viewing updates using the Updates tab
Find out what's new in your network and the wider organization. Use the Updates tab to track the latest updates or stories from across IBM Lotus Connections.
The Updates tab lists the latest news stories and updates from across Lotus Connections, including communities and tags that are related to you. The updates are displayed in a list format, making it easy for you to scan through the entries and quickly identify the updates that interest you most. An icon next to each update identifies which feature the update is associated with.Check your latest updates from across the features...
- Use the tabs to filter your updates and display the information relevant to you. Select from the following:
Updates tabs
Tab Description Top Updates Use this tab to display the most recent status updates from the people in your network. You can also view the latest responses or comments on things that you've done in Lotus Connections, for example, comments or ratings of your blog posts, or replies to entries that you created in Activities. When you open the Home page, this tab is displayed by default, unless you are a new user and there are no stories to display, in which case the Discover tab is displayed. Discover This tab lists the latest public updates from across all the Lotus Connections features. When you open the Updates tab for the first time, it opens on the Discover tab by default. Use this tab to browse the latest entries from Lotus Connections and find content and people that interest you. Watchlist Use this tab to build up a watchlist of the people and tags that you are interested in and want to follow. Notifications This tab displays the notifications that you have explicitly sent to other users, and the notifications that other users have explicitly sent to you. The tab displays notifications about:
- New or updated activity entries
- New or updated bookmarks in Bookmarks
- New or updated blog entries in Blogs
It also displays notifications from users requesting to join moderated communities, and notifications from community owners to users added to private communities.
Click Notifications Received to display information about the latest notifications that you've received. Click Notifications Sent to view the latest notifications that you have sent to other people from the different features.
Saved Stories Use this tab to access any stories that you have saved to return to at a later time.
- Use the feature links at the top of the Top Updates and Discover tabs to display updates from a particular Lotus Connections feature. Click All updates to display updates from all of the features.
- To find out more information about a specific update, click More next to the update. For each update entry, you can do the following:
- Select Save this story to add the update to the Saved stories tab. This option is useful when you want to return to a particular entry at a later time.
- Select Open original item to open the full entry in the feature in which it was created or updated.
- Use the J and K keys to quickly navigate the list of updates. Press J to skip to and expand the next news story in the list. Press K to skip to and expand the previous news story in the list.
What else can I do using the Updates tab?
- Click Customize to add widgets that bring extra functionality to the page
- Let your colleagues know what you're doing by updating your personal status message. This feature is available only if Profiles is installed as part of your deployment.
- Click Show more stories to browse through more updates from your network.
