Working with community files

Use the Files widget to work with the files that members have uploaded and shared with your community.


When working with community files, members can recommend files to other members, upload new versions of files, and edit a file's name and description. Members can also set up notifications so that they receive an e-mail whenever a file is modified. Only community owners can delete files from a community.

  1. To recommend a file to other members:

    1. Select the file that you want to recommend.

    2. Click the star icon to recommend the file to your colleagues.

  2. To upload a new version of a file:

    1. Select the file and click Upload new version.

    2. Click Browse to locate the file that you want to upload.

    3. Enter a concise description of your changes in the Change summary field and click OK.

  3. To update a file's name or description:

    1. Select the file for which you want to update the properties and click Set properties.

    2. Make the required changes and click OK.

  4. To receive e-mail notifications when changes are made to a file:

    1. Select that file that you want to set notifications for and click Notifications.

    2. Select the I want to receive an e-mail when this file changes check box and click OK.

  5. To delete a file:

    You must be a community owner to delete files from a community.

    1. Select the file that you want to delete and click Delete.

    2. Click OK to confirm that you want to delete the file.
