Sending e-mail notifications

Use e-mail notifications to contact fellow community members and give them the latest community news.


To send e-mail notifications to your community, e-mail must be configured to display in your deployment. If the administrator has disabled e-mail for your deployment, the Mail Community button does not display.


Community members can send e-mail notifications to other community members directly from Communities. There is no limit on the number of people that you can send an e-mail to.

Follow these steps to send an e-mail notification:

  1. From any page within the community, click Mail Community.

  2. Specify the recipients of the e-mail.

    • To send the message to everyone in the community, select Members.

    • To send the message to community owners only, select Owners.

    You can click To to display the contents of the To field.

  3. To send the notification using your default e-mail client, click Click to send using your favorite e-mail client.

  4. Fill out the following fields:


    E-mail notification fields

    Field name Value
    Subject Enter a title for your message. The title is prefixed by the name of the community by default.
    Message Type the content of your message.

  5. Click Send.
