Maintaining feature databases
Backup the feature databases and any associated content stores on a regular schedule using the methods documented by the vendor from whom you purchased the database and file system that you are using.
Lotus Connections provides a few SQL scripts to help you perform maintenance tasks on DB2 databases, such as collecting database statistics and compacting the database.
- Backing up and restoring data
You must back up both the feature databases and content stores on a regular schedule using the methods documented by the vendor from whom you purchased the database and file system you are using.- Gathering DB2 database statistics daily
Use the provided script to gather statistics about DB2 database table usage. Run the scripts nightly using the DB2 Task Center, for example, to update internal statistics used by DB2. Up-to-date statistics are necessary for proper performance. This procedure is relevant for DB2 databases only. Oracle and SQL Server gather statistics automatically.- Compacting and defragmenting DB2 database data
Use the scripts provided with Lotus Connections to compact and defragment the DB2 database data in a feature database. This procedure is relevant for DB2 databases only. Oracle and SQL Server compact data automatically.
