Administer Profiles
Change Profile configuration settings and execute administrative commands by running scripts using wsadmin. These scripts use the AdminConfig object to interact with the configuration repository.
There are two types of settings that you can control...
- Configuration settings
- Operating parameters of Profiles and are used when the Administrator wants to fine tune operation. These commands require a server restart to take effect, and they all have the following form:
ProfilesConfigService.<command_name>, (<arguments>)
- Administrative commands
- Aspects of the Profiles environment and its users. These commands do not require a server restart to take effect. The commands take the following form:
ProfilesService.<command_name>(<arguments>)
To change configuration settings check out the Profiles configuration file (profiles-config.xml) using the related script (profilesAdmin.py). The file is placed in a temporary location where, using other scripts, you can make changes to it. When your changes are complete, check in the file and restart the Profiles server for your changes to take effect.
To perform administrative operations, you use scripts that make changes to Profiles operating data. When using administrative commands, you don't need to check out any configuration files or restart the Profiles server.
