IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Application Diagnostics, Version 7.1.0.1
CYNCR8317E: The test connection to the Managing Server failed. The system was unable to contact the Managing Server. Agent installation cannot continue until the connection is established.
Explanation
Possible reasons that the Managing Server connection is broken include the following scenarios:
- The Managing Server is down.
- The Managing Server information was entered incorrectly (incorrect host name, port, user name or password).
- The user name entered does not have agent privileges on the Managing Server.
- The Managing Server was not restarted after a new installation.
Operator response
To resolve this error, the user running the installation can perform any of the following actions:
- Verify that the Managing Server is running. If the Managing Server is not running, start it. IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere starts automatically when WAS is restarted. Or, from the WAS administrative console, you can select Application > Enterprise Applications, select IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere, and click Start. A green arrow displays next to the application if it is running correctly.
- Verify whether the information entered matches the Managing Server information (host name, port, security enabled, user name or password).
- Verify that the user specified has agent roles on the Managing Server.
- If the Managing Server was installed without restarting WAS afterwards, the agent cannot connect to the Managing Server. Make sure that WAS was restarted. Before restarting the WAS, make sure the DB2 environment is set up. On UNIX, source the db2profile of the DB2 instance user.
- Use a different Managing Server.
