IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Application Diagnostics, Version 7.1.0.1

Activation

These instructions assume that amuser is the database user ID. If it is not, substitute the correct ID in place of amuser as appropriate.

  1. Make sure that the amuser ID can write to the MS_home/logs/datatrim.log file. You might need to change permissions on both the MS_home/logs directory and the datatrim.log file to give the amuser the required access. The amuser ID must also have permissions on the database driver location.

  2. The default JVM minimum heap size is 128MB and the maximum is 256MB. You can increase the JVM heap size in datatrim.sh for optimum performance.

  3. To run the datatrim.sh script manually:

    • Logon with the amuser ID on the Managing Server (even if the database is remote).

    • Start the script:
      MS_home/bin/datatrim.sh

  4. To run the datatrim.sh script automatically, schedule a cron job or a Windows scheduler job to run the datatrim.sh script under the amuser ID.

  5. Datatrim.sh prunes tables but does not optimize or reclaim free space. See Additional database maintenance for more details.
