IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Application Diagnostics, Version 7.1.0.1

Set up the Managing Server to automatically configure data collectors

The Managing Server automatically applies a default configuration to all data collectors. This is determined by the am.ms.autoconfiguredc property in the kl1.properties file. By default this value is set to true.

There might be data collectors that you do not want to configure automatically. If this is the case, you can configure this for each individual data collector by changing the dc.autoconfigure property in the dc.properties file to false.

The Managing Server am.ms.autoconfiguredc property overrides the dc.autoconfigure property, for example if the am.ms.autoconfiguredc property is set to false, this overrides any data collectors that may have a dc.autoconfigure property set to true and no data collectors will be automatically configured.

To change the data collector autoconfiguration default from true to false:

  1. In the MS_home/etc/kl1.properties file, set am.ms.autoconfiguredc=false.

  2. In the same properties file, set the db.config.name property to the type of application server to be monitored by all new data collectors that will connect to the Managing Server. The following is a list of values:

    • j2ee=default1

    • CICS=default2

    • ims=default3

    • tomcat=default4

    • netweaver=default5

    • jboss=default6

    • WL=default7

    • J2SE=default8

    • oracle=default9

    • WASCE=default10

    • WS=default11

default* is the CONFIG name in the DB CONFIG table for configurations already populated. If a platform is not specified in this property, it will be configured to default1, which is the J2EE default configuration.

  3. Restart the Managing Server.

For information on overriding autoconfiguration for a particular data collector, see Overriding data collector autoconfiguration in the Distributed data collector Installation and Customization Guide.
