Custom installation and upgrade: creating the user interface user - UNIX
During the installation or upgrade, you will be asked to enter the user name for the user interface user. This is an operating system user, used for the following tasks:
- Logging in to and using the WAS administrative console.
- Logging in to and using the ITCAM for Application Diagnostics Managing Server Visualization Engine. (While the Visualization Engine has a user management system of its own, the default user has the same user name and password as the product user).
To create the user interface user:
- You can choose to do one of the following options:
- Use the root user, which is the default.
- Create a user for the product at this time. This user must have root privileges.
- If you are using an existing WAS 7.0, configure your user registry. (Authentication is controlled by WAS 7.0, not by the Managing Server.) Perform the procedure at the following Web site:
