Updates preference console mode

Use the update preference to search for updates to IBM Installation Manager.

When you enable the update preference, Installation Manager searches for updates to itself when you install, modify or update a package.

When the IBM product you are installing requires a newer version of Installation Manager, you must update Installation Manager.  When a newer version is required, you are prompted to update Installation Manager even if Search for Installation Manager updates is cleared. When the installed version is newer than the version included with the IBM product, Installation Manager remains at the current version. Installation Manager is backwards compatible.

  1. li> Start Installation Manager in console mode: imcl -c.

  2. li> Enter P: Preferences.

  3. li> Enter 7: Updates.

  4. li> Enter 1: Search for Installation Manager updates. The option is selected when [X] shows.

  5. li> Enter A: Apply Changes and Return to Preferences Menu. Enter P: Temporarily Keep Changes and Return to Preferences Menu if you want to make more changes to preferences before saving changes to the repositories.

  6. li> Enter C: Cancel to exit preferences. Enter S: Save All Changes to save changes if you selected to temporarily keep your changes.
