Create a response file manually
To use the silent installation capabilities of IBM Installation Manager, you create a response file that contains all the commands that Installation Manager runs.
Typically, you create a response file by recording your actions as you install a package. However, you can also create or edit a response file manually. Some IBM products include response files with the installation files.
Response files contain two types of commands:
- Silent installation preference keys set preferences for Installation Manager that you set by clicking File > Preferences.
- Response file commands emulate the actions of Install, Update, Modify, Roll Back, and Uninstall wizards in Installation Manager.
What to do next
Optional: Create a keyring file to store the credentials needed during installation to authenticate the repositories, proxies, and response files on protected servers. Keyring files are only necessary when your installation accesses servers that require authentication. If the servers do not require authentication, then you do not need to create a keyring file.
