Types of offerings

After opening a repository, you can determine if a package is a base offering or an update offering in the Content table. Expand the repository name until the product version displays. Offering types are indicated by the icons next to the product versions:

The repository for an update offering does not contain all the files required to install the product. Update offerings have a base offering. The base offering is typically a major release of a product and an update offering is typically a minor release.

Example

Product A version 1.0 is a base offering while Product A version 1.0.1 is an update offering. Packaging Utility copies only full working repositories. A full working repository contains all the files necessary to either install the base offering or install the update offering with the base offering. Packaging Utility gathers files from both the update offering and the base offering when copying update offerings.
