Prepare to copy packages from a repository in wizard mode
Before we can copy packages, download the product we want to install to a local drive. Before we can copy product packages, complete the following prerequisites:
- Download the product package that we want to install to a local drive.
- Extract each product package into its own common root directory. For example, if product A is composed of six disks, disk1.zip through disk6.zip, extract all six disks into the same common directory: C:\productA. For product B, the product is composed of two disks, disk1.zip and disk2.zip. Extract both disks into the same common directory: C:\productB.
If we copy a product package from IBM Passport Advantage , make sure that we have your IBM user ID and password that are required to connect to the site.
In IBM Packaging Utility, we can copy multiple packages into one repository or copy multiple disks for one product into a repository.
Procedure
To open a repository on a local computer or network:
- On the main page of the Packaging Utility, click Copy Packages. The Prerequisite page opens. Click Next to display the Source page. If no packages are available to select, we must open a repository that contains packages.
- Click Open Repository.
- To define a repository location, click Browse, then go to the Repository location, the common root directory, that contains the disk images. If the product A files are in C:\productA, go to that directory and select a repository.config file, a JAR file, or a .zip file.
- A repository can be a path to a file on the local file system or a URL to a file on a server.
- By default, the name of the repository is displayed in a file path format such as C:\productA on the Source page.
To assign a unique name to this package, clear Use this location as the name of the target repository and enter a name in the Repository Name field.
- Click OK to define the repository location and to close the Browse to a repository directory window.
Results
The repository that you selected is added to the Source page as a check box on the Source page.
