Modify packages using wizard mode

We can modify the content of packages installed using Installation Manager.

Close all programs installed with Installation Manager. Before we can modify a package, Installation Manager must have access to the repository containing the package installation files.

Use Installation Manager to add or remove features and languages.

Procedure

To modify a package:

  1. In Installation Manager, click Modify.

  2. If a new version of Installation Manager is found, we are prompted to confirm the installation of it before we can continue. Click OK to proceed. Installation Manager automatically installs the new version, stops, restarts, and resumes.

  3. In the Modify wizard, select the packages to modify and click Next.
  4. (Optional) On the next Modify Packages page, under Languages, we can add or remove languages by selecting the languages to install. The corresponding language files are installed. Your choices apply to all packages installed in this package group.

  5. Click Next.
  6. (Optional) On the Features page, select the package features to install or remove.

    1. To learn more about a feature, click the feature and review the description under Details.
    2. To see the dependency relationships between features, select Show Dependencies. When we click a feature, features that depend on the selected feature and that are dependants of the selected features are shown in the Dependencies window. As you select or exclude features in the packages, Installation Manager automatically enforces dependencies with other features. The download size and disk space requirements are updated for the installation.

    3. To return to the default features selected for the packages, click Restore default.

  7. When we are finished selecting features, click Next.

  8. On the Summary page, review your selections.

    1. To change the choices you made on previous pages, click Back.

    2. When we are satisfied with your choices, click Modify.
On Windows, Installation Manager checks for running processes. If processes are blocking the modify process, a list of these processes is shown in the Blocking Processes section. We must stop these processes before you continue the modify process. Click Stop All Blocking Processes. If there are no processes that must be stopped, we do not see this list. The running processes lock files that must be accessed or modified by Installation Manager.

  9. When the installation process completes, a message shows that confirms the installation.
