Help preferences
Specify how the help, search, and context-sensitive help windows display information. Set the help preferences by clicking File > Preferences > Help in IBM Installation Manager. On the OS X, the Preferences option is under the IBM Installation Manager menu.
Open Modes
We can access the help from within Installation Manager by clicking Help > Search or clicking Help > Help Contents.
Choose to open the help search:Choose to open the help contents:
- In the dynamic help view: Opens an additional window from within Installation Manager.
- In a browser: Opens the system default web browser.
- In the help browser: Opens an additional window from within Installation Manager.
- In an external browser: Opens the system default web browser.
ContextHelp
The context help is accessed by clicking the question mark icon in each window of Installation Manager graphical user interface (GUI).

- In the dynamic help view: Opens an additional task pane within Installation Manager that offers links to the related IBM Knowledge Center documentation topics, the IBM Knowledge Center documentation home page, search, bookmarks, and the index.
- In an infopop: Opens a pop-up help with links to the related topics.
- In the dynamic help view: Opens an additional task pane within Installation Manager that offers links to the related IBM Knowledge Center documentation topics, the IBM Knowledge Center documentation home page, search, bookmarks, and the index.
- In an infopop: Opens a pop-up help with links to the related topics.
- Help content preferences
If the product we are installing supports access remote help, a network administrator can provide help content to users from an intranet server. By creating a connection to the remote help, we can update the help to offer users the latest help content between releases. With remote help, less space is used on user computers and users can receive more information that might not get installed with the product.
