Multiple browser sessions

Installation Manager does not support multiple browser sessions. When a second browser attempts to connect to the Installation Manager, there are two outcomes.

  1. Interruptable state: There is an existing web browser session that is not running any installation operations (install, update, roll back, uninstall, or modify). For example, another user is modifying preferences or setting values in an installation wizard. This message is displayed:
There is another installation session in progress.
Are you sure we want to terminate it and start a new one?
    Yes/No

If we click Yes, the current session is stopped and a new session is started. It can take a few minutes for the Installation Manager web server to restart.

  2. Non-interruptable state: There is an existing web browser session that is running an installation operation (install, update, roll back, uninstall, or modify). For example, another user clicked Update to update a package, and the update is in progress. A message similar to this one is displayed:
UpdateJob in IBM Packaging Utility; com.ibm.cic.packagingUtility 1.8.0.20140612_0217 features:
packaging_utility,jre is in progress. Try again later.

Another user cannot start a new browser session until the process is complete. Click OK and try again later.
