Change Sets

A change set is the mechanism for packaging configuration data and transporting it from one system to another. A change set goes through multiple stages in its lifecycle. A user first creates a change set and then adds the configuration data that needs to be transported to the change set. The user releases the change set once the contents of the change set have been finalized. A released change set means that the contents of the change set cannot be modified. Once the change set is released, the user then transports the change set and configuration data to another system. The change set can then be applied in the system which means that the configuration data contained in the change set has been written to the database and therefore is live on that system.
