Configure a role-based business user interface
Before you deploy your process application, you need to configure different elements in the business process definition (BPD) to control the types of actions that different business users can perform in the Process Portal, the types of data they can search for and view, and the dashboards that they can access.
- Exposing Business Process Definitions
Exposure settings for business process definitions (BPDs) enable you to establish who can start the process and perform other tasks in the IBM Process Portal.- Exposing a human service
In addition to implementing the activities in a business process definition (BPD), the human services created in Process Designer in IBM Process Designer can also be used to customize the Process Admin Console or to create a custom dashboard for IBM Process Portal. The exposure settings for a service depend on its intended purpose.- Making business data available in searches and views
Before business users in IBM Process Portal can search for business data across process instances, you need to configure each variable in the Process Designer to be available to search. In addition, the business data about a task that business users see in their task list needs to made available to search in order to be viewable in the task list.- Generate portlets for human services exposed as dashboards
If you exposed a human service as a dashboard for a group of process participants, and you want to use the dashboard in IBM WebSphere Portal, generate a portlet. Then the portal server administrator can deploy the JSR 286 portlet to the portal server runtime environment.
