Modeling events
Events in IBM BPM can be triggered by a due date passing, an exception, or a incoming message from an external system. You can add events to your BPDs that can occur at the beginning, during, or at the end of a process. Use events to track data, manage errors, and retrieve information about the execution of your BPDs.
- Understanding event types
Learn about the types of events available in IBM BPM and when to use each type.- Modeling timer events
You can use timer events to specify a time interval after or before which some activity is performed, or another path in your process is taken.
- Modeling message events
Use a message event to represent a point in your process where an incoming message is received or where an outgoing message should be sent.- Use ad hoc events
Use an ad hoc event when you need to include ad hoc actions that can be run at any time during process execution.- Modeling event gateways
Use an event gateway to model a point in the process execution where only one of several paths can be followed, depending on events that occur.- Handing errors using error events
When you design a business process definition (BPD) or a service, provide logic to recover from possible errors that might be generated in the runtime application.- Understanding and using undercover agents
An undercover agent is started by an event. The event can be a message event, a content event, or a timer event that is the result of a specific schedule.
