Integrating with IBM Case Manager

To integrate with IBM Case Manager, you build an integration service and perform other key steps when you want to integrate a business process developed in IBM Process Designer with a case management case in IBM Case Manager.

Business process management and case management are complementary ways of solving business problems. In business process management a sequence of activities in a business process leads to a result. Frequently, those activities are automated.

For example, a business process might get traffic accident statistics in one activity and use business analytics in another activity to produce some possible causes for a rise in traffic fatalities.

In case management a specific case is looked at by a set of professionals related to it. A case could consist of a specific traffic accident and could have someone representing an insurance company, another looking at the legal aspects, and another examining safety equipment.

Together business process management and case management can effectively analyze problems by bringing the data together in a common domain.

An IBM Case Manager Integration service is the means of accessing case management cases from a business process. Accessing case management cases from an IBM Case Manager Integration service includes both searching for case management data and updating data.
