Attaching diagrams to contexts

After you have assigned IDs to the shapes, you can import the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file and attach it to a context in the Monitor Model editor.

To attach an SVG diagram to a context:

Procedure

  1. If you are using an SVG file that was created when you exported business measures from WebSphere Business Modeler, proceed to step 2. If you created the SVG diagram outside the monitor model:

    1. In the Project Explorer view, right-click the monitor model project and select Import > General > File system. Click Next.

    2. Click Browse and go to the directory that contains the SVG file. Select the SVG file and click OK.

    3. To select the folder, click Browse and locate the monitor model project. Click Finish.

The SVG file is placed in the SVG group in the Project Explorer view.

  2. Click the Visual Model tab in the editor and select a monitoring context or key performance indicator (KPI) context from the Selected Context list.

  3. In the editor pane, click Browse. Locate the SVG file and click OK. If you are asked whether to create shape sets based on the SVG file, click OK. Shape sets are created based on any shapes in the file that have monitor model IDs.

Results

The diagram is now associated with a context. When the context is chosen in the Diagram view in a dashboard space, the diagram will be displayed.

If the SVG file contains monitor model IDs, either because you added them manually or because the SVG file was created when you exported business measures from WebSphere Business Modeler, shape sets are created for you based on the shapes with IDs.

What to do next

To create a dynamic visualization, you can now select shape sets and associate them with actions.
