Migrating from previous versions of WebSphere Integration Developer
You can migrate from previous versions of WebSphere Integration Developer to IBM Integration Designer V8.0.1. This is referred to as version-to-version migration.
Migrating to IBM Integration Designer V8.0.1 preserves the basic structure of your existing application with minimal required reconfiguration.
If you are migrating the target runtime environment to IBM BPM V8.0.1, you will be able to run the applications that you previously deployed, even if you have not migrated WebSphere Integration Developer. However, if you want to edit the applications, you must also migrate WebSphere Integration Developer to a compatible version so the major versions of the two products match.
If that instead of migrating the source artifacts individually, you can import your existing workspace by selecting the directory where your workspace is located when IBM Integration Designer is launched. It is important that you refer to the topic, "Considerations for the version to version migration process" below before you import your existing workspace.
- Migrating source artifacts
IBM Integration Designer source artifact migration refers to the process of importing a project interchange (PI) created in an older version of WebSphere Integration Developer into a newer version of IBM Integration Designer.- Migrating a process instance
Migrating a IBM WebSphere Business Modeler business process may involve migrating a process instance. In IBM WebSphere Business Modeler V7.0.0.2 or later, the IBM WebSphere Business Modeler export wizard targeting WebSphere Integration Developer provides an option to enable BPEL process versioning.- Migrating XML maps
The underlying structure of xml maps was changed between releases of WebSphere Integration Developer. Use the migration wizard or the quick fix feature to migrate your maps to the current version.- Migrating generated Java EE staging projects
When you import a project interchange file that contains modules from a previous version of WebSphere Integration Developer, a migration wizard is automatically launched in IBM Integration Designer. If the project interchange file contains any generated Java EE staging projects (such as EJB, Web, or App projects), the migration wizard will contain a wizard page to help you migrate the projects.
- Migrating server runtime targets
When you import a project interchange file that contains modules from a previous version of WebSphere Integration Developer, a migration wizard is automatically launched in IBM Integration Designer. If the project interchange file contains any projects that target a previous version of the server runtime, the migration wizard will contain a wizard page that enables you to automatically update the projects to target the current server runtime of IBM Integration Designer.
- Considerations for the version to version migration process
When migrating from a previous version of WebSphere Integration Developer to IBM Integration Designer V8.0.1, most of the migration is done automatically. However, there are a number of considerations to be aware of that might require additional manual configuration.
