Business items

Business items are business-friendly representations of the data associated with a BPEL process. In a process map, a business item can represent the data that flows from one activity to another, or the type of data that is contained in a repository or a message.

A business item is contained in a business vocabulary, and can be based on a simply data type, such as a string, or it can be based on complex type, such as a business object or a Web Services Description Language (WSDL) message.

A business item can contain aliases, which are simplified representations of fields defined in the underlying business object. Aliases allow the fields or a subset of the fields in a business object, to be visible to the user when viewing or working with an associated business item.
