Preparing operating systems for product installation
Before you can install IBM BPM, you must prepare your operating system. The configuration depends on the type of operating system you are using.
Before preparing the installation environment, complete the following tasks:
- Disable the firewall if you have a firewall running on the system where you plan to install IBM BPM.
- Ensure that your user login provides access to your DB2 or Oracle database commands.
- Complete additional tasks specific to your operating system.
Attention: While installing IBM BPM on Windows Server 2003 or Windows 7 (English) and switching the locale to Czech in the IBM Process Portal Preference -> Interface language the text displays with corrupted characters on several panels of the IBM Process Designer. The text displays with corrupted characters even if IBM Process Designer is started with the Czech locale.
Tip: To resolve this issue change system settings as follows.
- In Windows Server 2003: Regional and Language Options -> Advanced -> Language for non-Unicode programs -> set to 'Czech'
- In Windows 7: Regional and Language Options -> Administrative Tab -> Change system locale... (under 'Language for non-Unicode programs') -> Select 'Czech'
