Upgrading from IBM BPM V8.0 to IBM BPM V8.0.1

The topics in this section describe the steps to follow when completing the upgrade from IBM BPM V8.0 to IBM BPM V8.0.1.

The tools and related user interfaces that interact with the Process Center must be at the same version and release level as the Process Center. The repository does not support the previous release or the release before that, only the current release. Even though you might be able to connect an installation of IBM Integration Designer at the current release level to a Process Center at the previous release level, you should not publish any process applications that have gone through artifact migration.

For information on updating the Process Designer, see Update the IBM Process Designer.

The Process Center and online Process Server versions must match exactly; otherwise the two cannot connect. If the Process Server version does not match the Process Center version, the Process Server can be used only in offline mode.

For example, if the Process Server moves to version 8.0.1, it no longer can be an online Process Server in Process Center if Process Center is still at version 8.0. The only way you could deploy new snapshots to such a Process Server would be by using offline server mode, in which you create a deployment package and install it manually on Process Server.

If Process Server and Process Center are installed in separate cells, you can still work in offline mode so long as the Process Server version is the same or later than the Process Center version. The Process Center should be upgraded last.

Restriction: IBM BPM version 8.0.1 provides revised support for governance processes. Migration of governance processes developed for version 8.0 is not supported.
