Choose an installation topology

You can choose to install IBM BPM components all on one computer, which is usually sufficient for small projects, trials, or proof-of-concept installations, or distributed across multiple computers, which is suitable for larger projects and enterprise systems.

You can install a stand-alone topology with any of the product configurations. If you want to install an ND topology, you must be installing IBM BPM Standard or IBM BPM Advanced; only stand-alone is available for IBM BPM Express .

If you indicate on the Interactive Installation and Configuration Guide form that you want to install a stand-alone topology, the form greys out options for configuring an ND topology, such as using the configureNode command or the Deployment Environment wizard, and the generated instructions do not include information about configuring an ND environment topology.

If you indicate on the form that you want to install a ND topology, you cannot select a typical installation type; installing a distributed topology requires that you choose one of the custom installation types.
