Designing the DB2 for z/OS database objects
You can organize the DB2 for z/OS objects that are required to support an instance of IBM BPM in various ways. Your decisions depend on the standards or conventions of your organization, and on practices that simplify the management of a DB2 subsystem.
Work with your DB2 subsystem administrator to design your approach for naming conventions and the use of databases, storage groups, buffer pools, and other DB2 resources.
If you are not already familiar with DB2, you might choose to start with a stand-alone configuration. You can then create an ND configuration that uses a DB2 type database, which is a more complex procedure.
Decide on a naming convention for databases on z/OS
You might have multiple IBM BPM for z/OS servers configured in the same cell or different cells, and these servers might use the same DB2 subsystem or same data-sharing group. In this situation, you must plan for a naming convention to isolate the DB2 components.
Decide on schema names and SQL IDs for DB2 for z/OS
You must choose unique names for the schema names and SQL IDs in the DB2 tables.
