Runtime migration phase

This topic provides a high-level overview of the steps required to migrate each runtime environment.

The following overview describes the steps that you must repeat for each runtime environment, for example: staging, test, and production environments. For the production migration, be sure to perform these steps on a copy of your production data before migrating the production server itself. Based on your experience with the dry run on a copy of the production data, you can predict the time that will be required for the actual production migration.

See Migrating the runtime environments for detailed instructions.

  1. Install the new version of the IBM Process Server in your runtime environment, following the appropriate installation instructions for the Process Server for the Standard or Advanced edition of IBM BPM.

You must perform a custom installation when migrating. Only the custom installation option includes the upgrade utilities that you need.

  2. Complete the required post-installation tasks. Tasks vary, depending on whether you plan to run a stand-alone or ND configuration of IBM BPM V8.0.1.
  3. Modify the properties file for the upgrade command as appropriate for your existing Teamworks 6 (source) and IBM BPM V8.0.1 (target) environments.
  4. Shut down the Teamworks 6 Process Server and Performance Server.

  5. In the IBM BPM V8.0.1 runtime environment, run the upgrade command, specifying the options required to gather process instance information and create an instance mapping file.
  6. Examine the instance mapping file and enter any information that is missing.

  7. Run the upgrade command, passing the instance mapping file as a parameter. The upgrade command installs process applications from IBM Process Center and migrates process instances.

  8. Perform the regression test suite.
  9. Decommission the Teamworks 6 Process Server.

  10. Archive Teamworks 6 databases.
  11. Drop or delete Teamworks 6 databases.
