Manage process documentation
From the Process Center Console, you can view or print information about a process application snapshot or toolkit snapshot. You can generate a report about the process application or toolkit or about an asset of the process application or toolkit.
You can also view or generate a report about the changes made from one snapshot to another.
What is the value of generating such documentation? You might want the documentation in the following situations:
- You are building a process application as part of a team, and you want to share and review high-level information with a business user.
To do so, you take a snapshot of the process application.
You can then share information that is relevant to the business user, such as the process diagram and the participant groups that are involved in activities.
- You have reached a milestone in the design and development of a process application, and you want to take a snapshot for audit purposes.
To do so, you generate a report, which includes information about the process application, toolkits, and implementation. The information also contains historical information (who created or updated the artifacts and when the artifact was updated).
- You want to determine the changes that occurred between two snapshots of a process application.
To do so, from the asset list of the selected snapshot, you select Compare and then choose the snapshot that you want to use for comparison. A list of the artifacts that have changed between snapshots is displayed.
- Use the Asset List view
Use the Asset List to view and generate reports for all assets contained in a snapshot- Printing information about a snapshot
You can print information about the assets associated with a snapshot.
- Comparing snapshots
You can compare the currently selected snapshot with another snapshot in any of the tracks of a process application. You use the Compare option on the asset list to compare the snapshots.
- Generate reports
Reports provide a way to consolidate your process documentation. You can generate a report on the entire snapshot or on a specific asset of the snapshot. You can also generate a report that shows the differences between two snapshots.
