IBM Streaming Analytics for IBM Cloud is powered by IBM Streams, an advanced analytic platform that you can use to ingest, analyze, and correlate information as it arrives from different types of data sources in real time. When you create an instance of the Streaming Analytics service, you get your own instance of IBM Streams running in IBM Cloud, ready to run your IBM Streams applications.
Get started with Streaming Analytics right away by running the starter applications.
To get started with Streaming Analytics, use one of the following methods to submit the application bundle (.sab file) that is associated with your SPL, Java, Python or Scala Streams application:
- Use the Submit Job button in the Streaming Analytics console.
- Develop an application in IBM Cloud and add the IBM Streams application to it. Control it by using the Streaming Analytics REST API
.
Use Streaming Analytics with other services, including IBM Cloudant. See the Tutorials to integrate with other IBM Cloud services for examples to get you up and running.
To go further with your own applications, you can get a IBM Streams development environment and you must get your application cloud-ready. If you don't have an IBM Streams environment, you can download the IBM Streams Quick Start Edition with Docker.
If you are not familiar with IBM Streams application development, there are resources to help you learn. See IBM Streams Knowledge Center
If you already have an SPL application that you run on premise, you must get your application ready for the cloud.
You must compile your applications a RHEL 7.4 or CentOS 7.4 x86_64 system.
